Caught on Camera - Yesterdays Action

Photos from yesterdays national championship aquathon are now available to view. Simply click photos on the left side of this page, or click on the photo below to access.

Photos are avaialble in full digital format (3888 x 2592 pixels, c. 4.5MB file) at a cost of €2.49, with all proceeds going directly to junior triathlon development in Laois.

Timing Updates

Please be aware that due to a software bug, the swim times for waves 7, 8 and 9 (13-15 and 16-17 Age Groups) were reported as being about 7 minutes longer than they actually were. This effected all times in these age groups equally, and so there is no change in overal rankings. A second bug impacted swimmers in the last 9-12 age group, resulting in times being adjusted for this wave by 1 minute 12 seconds. This change did not impact in any way the other age groups (7-8 and 18-19, and the first three waves).

The latest version of the provisional results are available below. Final results will follow in the next day or 2. Any timing queries or issues, please contact karl@trilogy.ie.

Just over 2 weeks to go

Hello everyone. Time is closing in now for what is going to be a brilliant race in Port Laoise. Well done to everyone who has entered so far. There are still a few places left so don't delay and sign up. A few details about the day itself. Registration will be taking place in PortLaoise Leisure Centre @ 09:00hrs sharp. The race briefing, which everyone must attent will be @ 09:40 followed by the first wave kicking off at 10:00. At registration, parents/guardians will be asked to sign if for their competitor and also to sign on a form allowing us to take photos of the event. We have a fantastic photographer on board - Elaine Justin. Elaine will make sure that only the best of the photos will be published on the web with a possibility to purchase them at a later date.
At registration, everyone will get a number wrote on them. When you cross the finish line, you will receive a packed goodie bag. The presentations will take place between 12:45 and 13:30 so we ask everyone to stay around for this.
Remember, this is a safe and fun race. All we need to do now is hope for the great weather we had last year. If anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate in contacting me through sinead@trilogy.ie
Enjoy your last few weeks of training.

Looking for Accommodation?

We have had a couple of enquiries regarding weekend accommodation in Portlaoise for the Junior Aquathon. There is a page listing all accommodation on the race's sister site (Portlaoise Try-athlon) - including contact details, websites and distance to the pool (we are using the same pool for both events).

Visit here to see more: http://www.trilaois.ie/Accommodation.html

Which Age Group Am I?

In relation to some queries received here at junioraquathon.ie, age groups on race day are decided by the age you turn during this year. So if you were born, in say, August 1996, you might be 12 years old on race day, but you will be racing in the 13-15 age group category as you will turn 13 during 2009.

9-12 Birthday Between 1 January 1997 to 31 December 2000
13-15 Birthday Between 1 January 1994 to 31 December 1996
16-17 Birthday Between 1 January 1992 to 31 December 1993
18-19 Birthday Between 1 January 1990 to 31 December 1991

Great News - National Championships

Trilogy's Junior Championships on 13 June have been selected by Triathlon Ireland as the 2009 Junior Championships. As well as being a huge honour for the club, it is also a great opportunity for juniors across Ireland to race against each other in an all-Ireland age-group championship race.

Championships or not - our race is still more about participation than it is about winning - so enter online for just €5.00 today and come June you can say you took part in an all-Ireland final. Remember to enter the race, if you are under 18, you will need a parent / guardian to fill out the form and use their credit card to pay.

Online Entry Problem - Fixed

Over the last few days there was a problem completing race entries online. The good news is that this problem has now been fixed. Entries are re-opened!
